Ankündigung: ABackup v5.20
Denis Gounelle, Autor von ABackup, informiert über die neue Version seines
Backup-Programms:
»May we remind you that, in addition to a very clean interface which
doesn't require any additional library or graphical system like MUI,
ABackup offers the following features :
- Both full and selective backup and restore operations. You can select
the files by name of pattern, by date, by protection bits, but also one
by one. You can also record a selection, and get it back later.
- Backup to floppy disks (with support for High Density disks and for the
"diskspare.device"), to partitions (a SyQuest cartrige for example), to
an archive file, or to a SCSI tape drive. Optional data compression
(using the XPK system or via an external program), data encryption,
verification, and archive bit setting.
- Restore to any directory, with or without restoring the original
directory tree. Handling of already existing files. Optional restoration
of files date and of empty directories.
- Backup of non-AmigaDOS partitions (PC, Mac, UNIX, ...)
- Allows full operation automatization : you can, for example, start a
backup just by a double-click over an icon.
Although this already sounds quite good, these are only the main features
of ABackup : you'd better take a look at the program, if you want to see
how much it has to offer.
This new ABackup version provides full support for removable disk systems,
like SyQuest, ZIP and Jaz units. In these times when hard-drives are
becoming larger and larger, this lets you use such systems as large floppy
disks. So, your backup will only require a few removable disks instead of
a huge pile of floppies. Of course, it will also be much faster. Before
using them with ABackup, you will have to partition your removable disks
with HDToolBox (in order to create the disk's RigidDiskBlock) but this
is the only thing that may disturb ZIP and Jaz owners.«
